The Cardós Film Fest logo

inspired by the
thistle flower

“According to Pyrenean superstition, the thistle flower has protected the homes of the villages in all the valleys of the mountain range from curses and evil spells. Now Cardós, the valley named after this plant, which is so prevalent, wants to safeguard the treasures from this mythical and legendary cultural legacy. The Pyrenean Mythological Film and Literature Festival must be rooted in the territory and, at the same time, must project its potential to be a driving force for cultural appreciation and social dynamism.”

Vall de Cardós Town Council

“We have a Vall de Cardós worthy of a film! By collecting testimonies of myths, tales, facts, remedies, patches, and folk knowledge; by listening to that silence that also dwells in this corner of the Pyrenees; by writing stories like those of the Literary Games; and by bringing cinema to Cardós, we will once again fill the valley with its own identity, from the Forat de Cardós to the pots of the Encantadas, and beyond.”
