ESTHER ARNAU

ESTHER_ARNAU

My name is Esther Arnau Cervós, I have a degree in cinema from the ESCAC (Escuela superior de Cine y Audiovisuales de Cataluña) and specialize in art direction. I am 21 years old and I am currently studying a master’s degree in artistic direction at the TAI (University School of Arts of Madrid). My vocation for audiovisuals began at a young age, which has led me to explore various areas of film production, including directing, editing and scriptwriting. However, it was in artistic direction that I found my true passion. This discipline allows me to express myself creatively, build unique visual universes, collaborate closely with other film professionals and explore a wide variety of cinematic styles and aesthetics.

At the same time, I have developed a deep interest in costume design, motivated by a personal connection with fashion and styling since childhood. This interest is constantly reflected in my projects, where I seek to carefully integrate the wardrobe as an essential part of the visual discourse. Throughout my training and practical experience, I have participated in more than 40 audiovisual projects, performing functions in direction, production, photography and, mainly, artistic direction.

During my last year of career, I have specialized fully in this area, in which I have had the opportunity to assume all the associated roles, as well as to design and build more than 15 stage sets.

CARDÓS

CARDÓS, name of the Festival that we find in different place names in the Cardós valley, from the most primitive to the most current: the Noguera de Cardós river, the towns of Ribera de Cardós, Ainet de Cardós, Esterri de Cardós… Vall de Cardós has a long history, much of which is still to be discovered, which dates back to the Neolithic, through the findings of the Pui de Sant Martí, a strategic-defensive enclave near Ainet de Cardós, origin of the first Roman civitatis, called Cardós.

PIRENE

It’s told of PIRENE, name of the Pyrenees prize, who was a princess in love with Hercules, with whom she met secretly in the forests. Pirene’s father discovered them and banished Hercules, but Pirene continued to visit the forests in the hope of finding him. On one of these walks, Pirene met Geryon, a monster who wanted the princess. Geryon, to prevent her escape, burned the forests. Hercules began to build enormous mountains in honor of Pirene.

QUÈ FAREM, QUÈ DIREM?

Award for the short film with the best research, it connects us with the Minairons that populate our valleys and give their name to the Minairons School in Ribera de Cardós. According to legend, the Minairons are tiny and fit thousands of them into a tube. When the owner opens it, they burst out demanding “què farem, què direm?” (What shall we do? What shall we say?) and, if you don’t give them work, they’ll kill you. They say that many of the screes in the Pyrenees have been the work of these goblins when their master had carelessly opened the joint and, in desperation, ordered them to gather all the surrounding stones in one place. They also explain that some heirs of the Pyrenees have been, on occasion, owners of the Minairons barrel, and thanks to this the house has grown, such as, for example, Tor d’Alós (Valls d’Àneu), and Sidro de Estaon (Vall de Cardós).

MANXIULA

Award for young people under 35 years of age, it is the name of a plant abundant in the Pyrenees, which is explained that, in ancient times, it was used to poison the tips of arrows and also that it was part of the ointments that witches used to soak brooms, making them fly.

ENCANTADES DEL PÚBLIC

The audience prize, taken from the number of the most emblematic characters of the valley, “the enchanted”, fantastic women who inhabit ravines and caves, and wear very white clothes of which it is said that if someone can get one, they will never be poor or rich and, all a symbol of sustainability and balance, as we want this Festival to be.
